SURREY DOWNS GOLF CLUB

Hole 1
Fantastic opening hole with a slight dog-leg left to the green. A drive tight to the right hand bunker will provide the best line into the green.

Hole 2
The safe side is the left half of the green, but don’t overdo it, there’s a hidden bunker left of the green.

Hole 3
Aim further left off the tee than you think on this double dog-leg. Fairway traps and out of bounds are waiting for most drives down the right, with the easier approach being from the left. The road is out of bounds.

Hole 4
If you’re a big hitter consider dropping down a club or two off the tee. To avoid a tricky second over a large horse chestnuts, all tee shots should be favouring the left side for a clear approach.

Hole 5
Awkward lies abound on this sloping Par 5. Tricky approach shot needs thought with danger left and right.

Hole 6
A drive at the marker will find the upper half of this two-tiered fairway. Keep the approach shot right for the members bounce into the green.

Hole 7
A drive over the marker, but short of the bunkers, will then require a short but accurate approach into this relatively straightforward Par 4.

Hole 8
A positional drive down the right will open up the entrance to this short but tricky hole. Two large bunkers guard the apex of the corner.

Hole 9
A serious challenge from the white tees. A straight drive will be rewarded with a clear line in. From the yellow and red tees, a central or right sided fairway position will ensure your shot to the green is clear.

Hole 10
Against the prevailing wind, a well-struck drive at the marker post will avoid the traps both left and right sides of the fairway.

Hole 11
Stay left side of the fairway with a positional iron to the dog-leg corner leaving a short hot uphill approach to a two tiered green.

Hole 12
Testing Par 3, which normally plays long. A narrow entrance to the green requires an accurate tee shot.

Hole 13
Play this hole as it is; a double dog-leg Par 5. Only the mighty can attempt anything but a regulation three shots to the green.

Hole 14
Aim left side of the green for the widest landing area, particularly when windy. Pot bunker front right offers difficulty if found.

Hole 15
A good drive will keep hopes alive of reaching the green in regulation. An elevated approach shot is needed to clear the bridle path (and watch out for riders and walkers!).

Hole 16
A large undulating green awaits a well-struck shot across the valley. Careful of the hidden trap front right.

Hole 17
A positioned drive up the right side will avoid the cluster of pot bunkers on the left. A relatively short approach should remain to this long but narrow green.

Hole 18
A true Par 5 to finish, which requires a laid up second down the right side. An elevated approach shot is needed to this double green to avoid both the water and front bunker.
